Ways to Help Houston

Hi all,

Hurricane Harvey has left a horrifying mark on the city of Houston. With over 51 inches of rain, 75 billion dollars in damage, and 30,000 (this number is climbing) people who will need temporary shelter. There are also thousands of animals being abandoned and stranded that need help. As a huge animal lover, I have to mention this.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I have been posting places to donate for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. I thought to make this a little easier, I would do a round up of organizations collecting money and supplies. Here are some of the ways to help Houston.

American Red Cross

Texas Diaper Bank According to many sources, diapers are not provided by disaster relief agencies, so it is in desperate need of cash and diaper donations.  The diaper kits will then be given to the families displaced by Harvey.

Google is matching donations dollar for dollar. What ever you donate is essentially doubled. They are giving all of the funds to the Red Cross. UPDATE: The matching was up to 1M and they have already raised 2M! Woo hoo!

Austin Pets Alive Working with Houston shelters to transport as many animals as possible to APA.

Houston Humane Society

Houston Food Bank is in need of food water and other supplies.

The Salvation Army is ready to provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to survivors and relief workers.

Amazon will let you donate to the Red Cross with your Amazon account.

As someone who grew up in Florida, has lived through a hurricane or 2, I know the realities of this devastation. Anything you can do to help, even if it’s $10, will mean everything to the people of Houston. I continue to pray and give where I can. My heart is with you Houston.
